UX case study

PRS for Music

Mobile App

team: aseron, kim, guieb & Ho

Project Overview

For this UX project, our team designed a mobile application under the brand PRS for Music to help adults find cost-effective, non-screen-based activities they can enjoy with children. We followed a full UX case study process—from problem discovery to prototyping.

We began by defining the core problem through user research and identifying pain points around adult-child bonding time in today’s busy, screen-dominated world. Then, we conducted a competitive analysis to evaluate existing solutions in the market and spot opportunities for innovation.

Based on our insights, we created user personas to represent the different types of app users. These personas helped guide our ideation phase during the design sprint, where we mapped out key user flows and explored various concepts that aligned with PRS for Music’s brand mission.

The features we focused on included: curated music-based activities for home, listings for local live events, the ability to create and share original music, and options to follow other users with similar interests.
Finally, we developed a high-fidelity mobile prototype designed for iOS. The app supports users in engaging with children through creative, non-digital play—while also offering a relaxing and community-driven experience for the adults.
